The Bereavement Ministry is dedicated to offering prayer, grief counseling and assistance in preparing the funeral liturgy at the Church of St. Isaac Jogues.
First, the parish is notified of the death of a parishioner (or a family member of a parishioner), as well as the request to hold the funeral at our church. Following this, our diocesan-trained Bereavement Team meets with the survivors of the deceased and assist in preparing the funeral liturgy.
After the funeral, the ministry members contact the survivors throughout the year offering prayer, suggesting grief counseling services if needed and the planning of a non-stipend Memorial Mass on the anniversary of the death of the deceased.
